The Israel Diamond Institute, Ramat Gan, Israel has redeveloped and repositioned its existing diamond grading laboratory to offer more products and services to the worldwide diamond industry. The laboratory will operate under the “World Gemological Institute” name.
IDI also secured the services of MVI Marketing, Ltd. of Paso, Robles, Calif., to implement a new marketing program in the United States.
Although IDI has operated the grading laboratory in Israel since 1977, and it has been a major source of diamond grading reports serving the Israel market, the
IDI’s decision to brand the lab as the “World Gemological Institute” was made in recent years to accommodate the growing list of services offered by the company on a global level, since it was founded in 1977.
“The Israel Diamond Institute has operated the lab as an outreach of our non-profit activities to support the industry and has invested in the lab’s growth to become a global provider for consumers’ need for an independent, non-biased diamond grading report along with their diamond purchase,” said Yinon Feldheim, WGI managing director. “We now know more about what the consumer wants based on our extensive consumer research done by MVI’s research division, Jewelry Consumer Opinion Council, and we plan on sharing this knowledge with retailers around the world to help their diamond sales.”
WGI will be making its official debut into the U.S. market in Jan. 2008, supported by the MVI team.
