On Dec. 8, the Indian Diamond and Colorstone Association (IDCA) chose Shailesh Jhalani (pictured), a principal at Prompt Gem Importers, to be its new president for 2023.

Vinit Jobanputra of Sanghvi Diamonds was named the group’s vice president; Manoj Bhandari of RMC was appointed its secretary; Rutali Gandhi of Sagar Star Corp. was elected treasurer; and Vibhor Saraf of Trillion Emerald will fill the role of joint secretary.

Jhalani takes over from IDCA’s 2022 president, Rajeev Pandya, who the group hailed in a statement for “his outstanding and passionate commitment and service to the association.”

In November, IDCA organized a U.S.-India Jewelry Industry Trade Symposium, which was held at the Indian consulate in New York City. Video of that event can be seen here. The IDCA also held its first gala dinner in four years at JCK Las Vegas in June.

Other elected directors are Navneet Chordia, Galaxy USA; Haridas Kotahwala, Royal India USA; Aniket Parikh, Terra Cor Diamonds; Kailash Rawat, Rawat Gems; Akshat Sanghavi, Dynamic Design Group; Anshal Shah, Suraj Impex; and Jihan Vaghashiya, Star Rays NY.

Nimish Mehta of Atit Diamond Corp. will continue as a director for 2023. Sailesh Lakhi and Vipul Shah are retiring from the board.
