Richard Hambro, the longtime chairman of I Hennig and Co., the noted De Beers diamond broker, died recently at the age of 62.
Hambro was the third generation of his family in the diamond industry. According to a Hennig statement, he received his education in the business working for Harry Winston in New York, and former chairman Harry Oppenheimer in South Africa.
Hambro was appointed chairman of Hennig in 1982 and continued to serve as chairman until he died. Hambro was also a director of Hambros Bank, owned by his family, and was president of Hambro America.
