Hublot introduced what it describes as a new approach to watchmaking materials with its Big Bang Original Soft Touch collection. The watches feature a textured rubber compound integrated into the case, bezel, dial, and strap, creating a tactile surface that’s built into the material itself rather than applied as a coating or surface treatment.
The company said the new rubber compound is produced through a specialized overmolding process that embeds the texture during manufacturing, an approach designed to create a softer feel while maintaining the durability and resistance associated with rubber components.
Hublot introduced the material in two versions of its Big Bang Original Soft Touch watch. The All Black version revisits its monochromatic concept first introduced in 2006, while the All Red edition draws inspiration from the company’s red ceramic technology, which debuted in 2018.
The watches are powered by Hublot’s in-house Unico chronograph movement, which the company says includes five patented innovations and provides a 72-hour power reserve. The watches are housed in 43 mm titanium cases and feature the brand’s One Click strap-interchangeability system.
According to Hublot, the dial also incorporates the textured material and includes raised counters and carbon-pattern elements intended to create a layered appearance. The company noted that the crown and other exterior components have been redesigned to complement the new material treatment.
The release continues Hublot’s focus on material development, an area that’s included innovations such as colored ceramic, sapphire, and Magic Gold, described as the first 18k gold alloy that withstands scratches.
The Big Bang Original Soft Touch was conceived, developed, and assembled at Hublot’s manufacture in Nyon, Switzerland. On the company’s website, it’s priced at $24,900.
