HRD to Certify “Antwerp Twins”

HRD Antwerp is now fully certifying the brand-new ‘Antwerp Twins’ cut diamond at its lab WTOCD.

This means a dedicated certificate can now be made for this exclusive cut.

The new diamond cut derives its name from its two faceted domes on the crown and pavilion side. The Antwerp Twins diamonds all have one feature in common: a fully faceted dome-shaped crown, with either no table at all or only a tiny ‘culet’-style facet in the centre of the crown. The new cut design for stones in different shapes creates a very sparkling design and no compromise on light output.

The newly designed stone is introduced by the Antwerp based company ‘3D Diamonds’.

"Our city’s centuries-long tradition of craftsmanship receives worldwide respect. With this new cut, we want to offer the world a step ahead in jewellery design and a demonstration of the leadership of Antwerp in diamonds", explains Eva Van Looveren, CEO of 3D Diamonds. Since the founder handed the company’s management over to his wife and daughter, the family driven 3D Diamonds has continued to grow. It is one of the few diamond companies to have its own Antwerp-based polishing factory.

"The birth of the Antwerp Twins is truly a beautiful and personal story", states Van Looveren. "When I was pregnant, I discovered to be expecting twins. Then, I hit upon the idea to create a special diamond for my twins. Twins catch more attention and the diamond had to do the same. This was the concept: a double sparkling, infinite binary ‘living’ diamond." It became a journey of experimenting, thinking, starting over and over again with a whole team of experts and experienced, skilled people. They had to leave the classic paths to find a way, leading to a new process of diamond cut. Through excessive R&D by daughter Diamscan, slowly a new way to cut diamond was discovered; a new technique that had to be applied. "Precisely one day… before I gave birth to my human twins, this revolutionary diamond cut was born with the logically corresponding name ‘Antwerp Twins’."

The Antwerp Twins diamond will be launched at the Hong Kong Jewellery and Watch Fair next week.
