Howard Schaeffer, 89, of Boca Raton Florida, passed away January 13, 2010, at home after a lengthy illness. Born in Brooklyn New York, he was predeceased by wife Anita, survived by son Kenneth (Ellen), daughter Joan, and grandaughters Jennifer and Allison.
Schaeffer served in active duty during WWII in 1st Armored Division as staff sargent in a tank combat unit. He worked in the diamond jewelry industry for over 50 years, initially with Axel Brothers/Columbia, in 1946. Schaeffer founded Goldmaster Corp. in New York in 1962, relocating to Miami Florida in 1971. He founded HK Schaeffer & Company in 1976, with son Kenneth. He retired in 2000.
Howard Schaeffer was a recognized industry leader and innovator in diamond bridal jewelry design, marketing, and manufacturing, responsible for the careers of hundreds of people, and respected in the overseas diamond markets for his honesty and loyalty.
