Holiday Cards for Every Jeweler

If you don’t have a graphic designer on staff or a local stationer or print shop you work with each year, consider ordering custom holiday cards online.

Tasteful holiday imagery and eloquent, festive messages beyond the archaic “Season’s Greetings” ensure you’re sending your network a greeting that’s unique, sincere, and on-brand (no company logo necessary).

A few suggestions:

  • Go with a nondenominational greeting—even if you, your team, and the majority of your clients are Merry Christmas or bust. Because our industry is global and diverse, making holiday versus Christmas messages a more respectful choice if you have business associates who practice other religions. Plus, doing otherwise tells customers you’re behind the times. Just saying.
  • Emphasize messages of gratitude. Holiday cards are really an opportunity to thank people for their business and support, especially when competition is high and times are changing.
  • Pearlescent or shimmery card stock is a bit passé. But reflective gold or silver foil accents are the perfect way to capture the luxurious (and shiny!) aspect of the goods you deal in.
  • If you must add a photo and you’re not working with a professional, rig up a set that includes a clean, solid-color background and flattering light (outdoors might be your best bet). Consider the palette of the card you’ve chosen and dress in clothing that doesn’t clash, avoiding prints and patterns (but by all means, pile on the jewels!).

Here are a few ideas from Minted.com’s collection. They’re one of my favorite online stationery sites because they feature work by independent artists, so the design quality is a step up from the usual Hallmark fare.

(BTW, they’re running a promo right now: use code SNOW to get 15 percent off holiday cards through Monday, Dec. 4. Prices below reflect that discount applied to orders of 100 or more cards.)
