Heart Shaped Diamond Sells for $3.7 Million at Christie’s

Christie’s announced that sales from Jewels: The New York Sale, featuring the Catherine the Great Emerald Brooch and the Emperor Maximilian Diamond totaled $41,246,325 with 85 percent sold by lot, and 92 percent sold by value.

The top lot of the sale was a perfect heart-shaped (D Flawless) diamond of 28.28 cts, which sold for $3,778,500 or $133,000 per carat.

The Emperor Maximilian Diamond sold for $1.7 million to a private U.S. buyer. The Catherine the Great Emerald Brooch sold for $1.6 million to a private Middle Eastern buyer.
