A hearing has been scheduled at a Los Angeles Superior Court
for June 19 to determine the ownership of a 840-pound emerald valued at $400
million, according to a local news report.
According to the report, three people are claiming to be the
owner of the Bahia Emerald, which was dug up in Brazil in 2001, sold to a
trader and then turned up in New Orleans, Idaho and Las Vegas.
The emerald is in the custody of the Los Angeles County
Sheriff’s Department.
