For the longest time, I didn’t know what to call them. Reverse cuff rings? Divided rings? I made up terms as I went along. Not quite a bypass ring or a wrap, no, something different. And then recently I came across the name floating ring, and it all made perfect sense. These bands, with their open ends—each one decorated with some sort of motif or a stone that is met by a space in the middle—appear to float those decorations on the finger. Now, why didn’t I think of that? It’s the same way with all of the ear-jewelry trends—with many different names for the ear cuffs and climbers and crawlers, it can be hard to know what to call them (and if you’re calling one style the right name versus another). But floating rings, I like that. If you know another name for these two-headed beauties‚ I would love to hear it. For now, though, some of my favorites are below. Call them what you want, really, as long as you stock them soon—these promise to be hot holiday sellers!
