Groupon Says It’s Selling Engagement Rings at $10,000 Discount

Buying an engagement ring on Groupon may not be the height of romance—though it may be hard for grooms to turn down the group-deal company’s offer of a princess-cut ring at a purported $10,000 discount.

The Chicago-based e-tailer recently rolled out a Wedding Shop featuring jewelry and engagement rings.

Among the deals that have captured the most attention: 1 ct. princess-cut (H-I color, I1-I2 clarity) diamond ring by Aurora Collection selling for $999—down 91 percent from its listed $11,299 value. That’s a $10,300 discount, the site says.

At press time, with five more days to run, 30 have been sold.

Other jewelry items include a ½ ct. t.w. diamond solitaire ring, which is selling for $499 and is listed as having a $3,000—or 86 percent—discount. So far it has attracted no buyers. Also available are stud earrings and pearl pieces.

Groupon’s Wedding Shop, which has reportedly been in tests since January, is up only until April 16.
