Doris Payne, the 83-year-old serial jewelry burglar known as the “grandmother” jewel thief, is back in jail.

Payne was arrested for parole violation: She failed to report to the local probation office after pleading guilty to stealing a $22,500 diamond ring from a Palm Desert, Calif., jeweler in April.

Payne has been implicated in crimes dating back to the 1950s and claims to have lifted more than $2 million in jewels.
