Govberg and WatchBox Add Two New Executives to Shared C-Suite

Sibling Philadelphia-based retail brands Govberg and WatchBox announced yesterday that they’re adding two executives to the companies’ joint C-suite.

The tech-savvy jewelry and watch brands have tapped Michael Manjos as chief revenue officer and Shri Ballal as chief technology officer.

“The expansion of the company’s leadership team follows an unprecedented year of growth for the luxury watch retailer and preowned e-commerce platform, and the two senior executive positions will accelerate the next phase of strategic development,” said Amanda Ellison, president of Govberg and WatchBox in a statement.

The newly created chief revenue officer position will see Manjos helm the optimization of sales revenue and commercial activities across all platforms and departments of both Govberg and WatchBox. He will identify business opportunities across global markets as WatchBox, which specializes in selling and trading preowned luxury watches, looks to scale its operation.

Manjos has more than three decades of luxury-watch-industry experience, including a 17-year stint heading global watch operations at Betteridge. Before that, he was the vice president of operations for Lenox Jewelers for 16 years.

“It’s rare to find someone who understands the primary business and is respected by the leading luxury watch brands—and at the same time maintains Mike’s level of knowledge of the secondary watch market and the nuances and trends across global markets,” said Danny Govberg, CEO of Govberg Jewelers and cofounder of WatchBox in the same statement.

New chief technology officer Shri Ballal joins the company with over two decades of experience, and “has designed core platforms and infrastructure across various industries,” according to the company, “most notably in gaming, leading talented engineering teams, and enabling companies to deliver innovative products and services to consumers all over the world—always with the user experience as the foremost concern.”

The chief technology officer seat is also a newly developed one, and the companies said Ballal is developing a roadmap “to unite and scale” the company’s digital properties, “adding consistency across all consumer-facing mediums, specifically its global website and flagship mobile product, the WatchBox app.”

Ballal was the managing director of Electronic Arts’ (EA) Core Engineering group before joining Govberg and Watchbox.

“Whether building for the gaming community or our global community of watch enthusiasts, Shri’s skillset is very attractive and absolutely transferable,” said Ellison. “As we continue to grow and achieve global visibility, a solid and professional leadership team [filled with] experts in their respective fields is imperative to support our race to be a $500 million sales operation.”
