Google Plans Version of Groupon

Google is launching its own version of daily deal site Groupon,
according to a report in Mashable.

Like Groupon, the new service, reportedly called Groupon
Offers, will target local businesses, according to a fact sheet posted
by Mashable.
The deals will get “exposure on Google ad networks,” the fact
sheet says.

News of the service comes in the wake of Google’s
failed bid
to buy Chicago-based Groupon. Groupon is now reportedly
launching an IPO
.

Groupon rival LivingSocial recently made headlines by selling 1.4
million coupons for Amazon
. Amazon
had invested $175 million in the service.
