Goldstories and Artist Dev Heyrana Partner for Poppy-Infused Collab

As San Francisco Bay area fine artist Dev Heyrana conceived of the Flora Sagrada collection, she drew on maternal memories—those of her mother picking flowers with her during her childhood, as well as the image of her own children’s little hands carrying a bouquet.

Flora Sagrada is a partnership between Heyrana and San Francisco–based Goldstories Jewelry, a fine jewelry brand founded by designer Subikksha Balaje. Together, Heyrana and Balaje used California’s wild golden poppy fields as the floral inspiration behind their three-piece collection.

“These flowers are delicate yet fierce, often found blooming in impossible terrains,” Heyrana says. “They withstand strong gusts of wind yet still thrive whenever they grow. So much of how I describe poppies reflects on the people in my life who have inspired me.”

The three pendants come in 14k recycled gold and can be paired with a gold curb chain. The Flora Sagrada Medallion with Heyrana’s signature hand-drawn poppy motif is 24 mm in diameter and retails for $1,400. The Mini Flora Sagrada medallion pendant is 13 mm and retails for $615.

The Poppy Boob pendant is a play on Goldstories’ best-selling Boob pendant, Balaje says. In this iteration, she calls the pair of poppies a way to honor women’s bodies and celebrate the story of motherhood. This pendant featuring the hand-drawn poppies retails for $1,155.

“When Dev first heard about the original Boob Pendant and its story, it really struck a cord with her. It felt like a natural step for us to merge that meaningful pendant with Dev’s iconic poppy motif,” Balaje says. “It’s all about celebrating motherhood in a way that’s both bold and beautiful.”

Goldstories will donate 10% of the proceeds from the Flora Sagrada collection to Help a Mother Out, an Oakland, Calif.–based nonprofit organization that helps provide diapers for area families in need, Balaje says.

“Help a Mother Out is a perfect partner for our collection because it helps real moms and families. It’s a hands-on way to really make a huge difference,” Balaje says.

Balaje says she wanted to work with Heyrana on a jewelry collection because she admires the artist’s work as well as her poppy motif.

“The first time I met Dev, her approachability and the way she championed other women, artists, and small businesses that she believed in struck me as incredible,” Balaje says. “Poppies are approachable yet wild. Vibrant, yet calm. They mirror the complexity of women…and Dev’s art captures this essence flawlessly.”

Heyrana says she was honored when she first received Balaje’s Instagram message asking for them to meet, and they connected during a visit to Goldstories pop-up shop in San Francisco.

“I believe in thoughtful connections, and I really wanted to meet her after reading her message.… We instantly hit it off when we met in person, and for months we were messaging and cheering each other on with our respective projects,” Heyrana says. “It felt so perfect for us to partner together and design a jewelry collection and to create something with a personal meaning.”

“The Flora Sagrada collection is so special for so many reasons,” Heyrana adds. “It has been a joy to draw, watch it come to life, and feel that connection with others when I see them wear it.”
