GIA’s Jewelry Career Fair to be held at two locations

The Gemological Institute of America will again host the gem and jewelry industry’s largest recruiting event in two venues this year. The Institute will hold its Jewelry Career Fair in New York City on July 28, at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center, and on Sept. 29, at GIA’s world headquarters in Carlsbad, Calif.

This is GIA’s 16th year of hosting a career fair specifically tailored to the gem and jewelry industry. Last year, GIA hosted record-attendance events in both the New York and Carlsbad locations, where more than 2,000 job seekers and close to 100 companies took part.

Employers who participate include some of the finest firms in the industry. Representatives from Tiffany & Co., Saks Fifth Avenue, Fortunoff Fine Jewelers, Zale Corp., and Christie’s have previously recruited at the event.

Job seekers at the fair acquire contacts, career development information, and industry knowledge through seminars, career coaching sessions, workshops, and résumé reviews. Some of the industry’s most respected leaders and experts offer their experience and wisdom to help people define their career goals and make their current skills and experience relevant to gem and jewelry employers.

For employers, the career fair offers a targeted, concentrated audience of highly trained potential employees who are passionate about gems and jewelry.

Employers interested in recruiting and job seekers can contact GIA’s Career Services office at 800-421-7250, ext. 4195, or e-mail Kimberly Northup at kimberly.northup@gia.edu. For more information, job seekers can also call GIA’s Jewelry Career Fair hotline at 800-421-7250, ext. 4100, or e-mail careerfair@gia.edu.
