The Gemological Institute of America’s Carlsbad, Calif., campus has been awarded the Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges School of Excellence award for 2011–12.
The ACCSC award recognized 17 out of 800 accredited schools across the globe for their commitment to upholding the standards of the organization and dedication to their students. To be eligible for the School of Excellence award, the majority of a school’s programs must meet or exceed a graduation rate of 92 percent for programs three months or less in length, and 82 percent for programs from four to six months, and demonstrate an average employment rate of 82 percent.
“ACCSC congratulates GIA on their commitment to delivering quality educational programs to the students, graduates, and employers that deserve our best work,” Christopher Lambert, ACCSC’s director of external affairs, said in a statement.
