GIA Makes Holiday Donations to Charities

The Gemological Institute of America (GIA) has donated more than 1,000 items and $1,000 in cash to two charities serving the community near its Carlsbad, Calif., headquarters.

Dress for Success San Diego, which provides employment resources, including professional attire, for women, and It’s All About the Kids, a nonprofit foundation that supports children’s charities, were the recipients of this year’s annual holiday drive and donations.

“We are honored to be chosen as one of the beneficiaries of GIA’s annual Holiday Gift Drive. These donations will brighten the holiday season and provide a confidence boost to our clients as they enter the workforce,” said Sylvia Evans-McKinney, founder and executive director of Dress for Success San Diego.

“Thank you to the wonderful women and men of GIA for their amazing generosity,” said Angela Brannon-Baptiste, co-founder and president of the board for It’s All About the Kids Foundation. “With their help, we are able to surpass our goal of making the holidays bright for over 1,600 children this year.”

GIA’s New York campus is holding a similar drive for Toys for Tots, the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve’s program that provides gifts to children in need, and New York Cares’ annual coat drive.
