GIA jewelry design grads showcase their creative skills

A class of 22 Gemological Institute of America’s Jewelry Design graduates provided ample evidence of their newly acquired skills in producing intricate, manufacturable jewelry design renderings when they recently displayed their finest work at GIA’s Carlsbad campus.

This is the second of six jewelry design programs scheduled by GIA this year. The program was recently expanded from seven to eight weeks to include more in-depth instruction on design theory, GIA said in a statement. It is one of GIA’s most popular on campus programs.

During the exhibit, students voted for the best rendering. The Best of Show award went to Jasmine Dakessian of Huntington Beach, Calif., for her rendering of a brooch with a pearl at its center.
