GIA creates Web site so consumers can shop with confidence

In the ever-changing world of jewelry styles, versatility is everything when it comes to keeping current with today’s trends. To help consumers navigate their way through the latest in this year’s holiday jewelry fashions, The Gemological Institute of America has created a consumer Web site designed to make jewelry gift shopping trouble-free for both men and women.

GIA calls it a “microsite.” It is located at http://www.gia.edu/holiday_microsite_upload/index.html. It outlines current jewelry trends and provides information, such as the hottest new colored gems, advice on making diamond purchases, facts on new and traditional pearls, a discussion of historical, and antique jewelry, and pointers on how to care for jewelry. There is also a link to GIA’s online tutorial, How to Buy a Diamond, a step-by-step guide to making an informed buying decision using the Four Cs created by GIA.

“Our new holiday microsite was designed to inform and educate, as well as to give the public confidence to make informed decisions as they shop for these important and festive purchases,” said Kathryn Kimmel, GIA VP of marketing and public relations.
