Get to Know “What’s Your Sign?” Jewelry

When longtime costume jewelry designer Deirdre Hanrahan wanted to launch her first fine line, she selected a theme that was both pretty and meaningful: stars. With the help of manufacturing partner Zhou You and seasoned fine jewelry designer Glenn Bradford, Hanrahan unveiled her What’s Your Sign? jewelry collection, comprising astrological sign charms, constellation-inspired styles, and Buddha motifs at the Jewelers of America show in New York City in January. Made of recycled metals and with ethically sourced diamonds and gemstones, the jewelry is a “refreshing and sophisticated approach to meaningful treasures that connect one to the universe, themselves, and their loved ones,” according to the company. Hanrahan maintains that she is “creating jewelry that serves as a beautiful daily reminder that peace, spirituality, and universal connections are the ultimate treasures we seek.” What’s Your Sign? is headquartered in Port Washington, N.Y.; its tagline is “Inspired by the energy of the universe.”

What’s Your Sign jewelry can be seen in person in Design Center booth #S10815 at JCK Las Vegas.

JCK: Tell us about the development of the line.

Deirdre Hanrahan: Zhou and I knew that we wanted our jewelry to be beautiful, but also meaningful, with a peaceful energy and element of spirituality. We both agreed that one of the most calming sights we could think of was a dark sky full of stars, so that’s how our Constellation collection was born. People are also attracted to things with special meanings, so they’re naturally drawn to symbols in our Zodiac collection. Then the Buddha collection speaks to wisdom and a quest for inner peace.
