It’s no wonder that the signature style—graphic lines, geometric forms, and cutouts—in Maral Artinian’s Marli line are so strong: Artinian hails from the family who owns Sartoro, a high-end jeweler well known in Europe. Artinian debuted Marli in 2014, inspired by “urban life, pop culture, fashion, and contemporary art,” says Artinian, “to satisfy a mid-price gap in the market.” She works with her brother Saro Artinian, who serves as Marli’s product developer, and a design team to sketch styles that are then cast and manufactured in Thailand. Expect to see 18k gold and diamonds—American favorites—and the occasional lapis, onyx, or white agate. Marli received a nod for best design in the diamond and gold category under $20,000 at the Couture 2015 show, and her work has been seen on celebrities such as Charlize Theron and Jennifer Lopez.
