Judi Powers abandoned a marketing and PR career to pursue her passion for jewelry. The Brooklyn, N.Y.–based designer debuted Judi Powers Jewelry in 2013 after a decade of making jewelry as a hobby, armed with metalsmithing education via myriad classes at the 92nd Street Y, the Jewelry Arts Institute, School of Visual Arts, Brooklyn Metal Works, and Studio Jewelers Ltd., as well as an AAS Degree in jewelry design from F.I.T. Her signature style: minimalism and matte finishes with nature motifs and pebble-like silhouettes in recycled silver and gold. She casts and fabricates styles, periodically relying on the help of a skilled CAD modeler and personally finishing master models “to ensure they have the look and feel I want,” she says. Expect to see chrome and indicolite tourmalines, Canadian diamonds, and other stones from dealers with clear and ethical supply chains in her Brooklyn-made line.
