Seeing doubles on ears lately? Your vision is not impaired! Instead, you are seeing one of this year’s biggest jewelry trends—the double-sided front-to-back earring and stud/jacket combinations. JCK featured a page of them in the October issue because they have wide appeal to fashionistas (particularly the under-35 set). Front-to-backs are double-sided styles that seesaw on the ear with a precious motif capping either end. The jewel or ornament in the rear is often larger than its front-facing companion so that the weight anchors it enough to peek out from behind. Meanwhile, the stud-and-jacket set is when a pierced earring has a companion element that slips on and off the post—in the front of the ear or the back—as desired. These mates can be highly embellished, minimalist, short, long, or rigid and straight through the ear, depending on the wearer’s taste, but all styles speak to a modern aesthetic that’s trending now. Here are six options to get a pair into your collection.
