In the past week, jewelers have heard much about the polar vortex, which has been responsible for the extremely cold temps that half of the country has been experiencing, but all the explanations do little to keep us or our customers warm. That’s where colored diamonds come into play: Just like during the summer heat wave, when our thoughts turned to icy-looking styles to inspire relief, we’re suggesting a similar path this winter with warm-colored diamond jewels to help, if only subliminally, fend off this cold air gusting down from the North Pole. (Thanks a lot for zero weather buffering, Canada.) Here are three new diamond styles in which white stones do not play a starring role.
Earrings in 18k gold set in dental ceramic with 3 cts. t.w. colorless and treated raspberry-colored diamonds, $4,620; Plevé Diamonds
Confetti earrings in 14k gold with 1.03 cts. t.w. black diamonds, 0.64 ct. t.w. cognac diamonds, and 0.37 ct. t.w. colorless diamonds, $5,695; Effy Collection
Ring in 18k yellow gold with 2.32 cts. t.w. rose-cut yellow diamonds and 0.57 ct. t.w. round brilliant-cut diamonds, $9,750; Michael John Jewelry
