The year of Emerald is coming to a close. Will that ever be a factual statement in the jewelry industry? Absolutely not. But in the color-centric world of Pantone, it’s bye bye, green, hello, purple. Radiant Orchid, dubbed Pantone’s 2014 Color of the Year, is described as “a captivating harmony of fuchsia, purple, and pink undertones,” and “emanates great joy, love, and health.” It’s indicative of our return to femininity, both as it pertains to fashion and to the rise of women. Whether speaking professionally or personally, women’s power is on the upswing. And on the fashion runways, the boyfriend styles are absent, while ladylike pieces (many with edgy touches, natch) are in.
