While a diamond is forever, a Georgia jeweler believes a gun might be for everyone—or at least everyone who purchases $2,500 worth of diamonds from his store, D. Geller and Son Jewelers in Atlanta.

Michael Geller, owner of the store, will run a promotion from Sept. 20-22, which gives anyone who buys at least $2,500 worth of diamonds a free hunting rifle.

“Hunting is a popular activity in Georgia,” Geller says. “I thought it would be a good way to connect to our customers.”

The store has collaborated with Smyrna’s Adventure Outdoors to supply the rifles, valued at $430.

But what about those customers who are advocates of gun control?

“We did receive a comment from an animal rights activist and anti-domestic violence groups,” Geller says. “However, hunting is a carefully controlled activity in Georgia. Most of the feedback has been very positive.”

Geller believes a few negative comments won’t interfere with the success of the promotion. “We try to keep things fun and exciting year round,” Geller says. “We’ve never had a promotion that has caught as much attention as this one.”
