George Thompson Diamond Jeweler Donates to California Charity

The George Thompson Diamond Co. donated a diamond and pearl pendant to the St. Mary Magdalen School auction in Camarillo, Calif.

The jewelry was appraised at $595, but may sell for more at the March 10 auction. The money raised at the Pennies from Heaven dinner, the school’s annual charity event, goes toward academic enrichment programs and scholarship funds.

Retailer George Thompson says his store’s relationship with the community prompts his numerous charitable initiatives. “The community gives to us, so it is our duty to give back to the community,” he says.

George Thompson Diamond Co. continuously fosters educational development though donations like this as well as its “Diamond in the Rough” scholarship program for high school seniors.

“We’re always excited whenever we get to help out a local charity, especially one that has a history as long and prestigious as the St. Mary Magdalen School does,” Thompson added in a statement. “We just hope that the pendant brings in a good amount for the school.”
