The Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC), India’s industry group, has elected Kirit Bhansali (pictured), partner in Smital Gems, its new chairman.

He takes over from Vipul Shah, who had led the group since 2022. Bhansali was previously vice chair.

Shaunak Parikh has been elected GJEPC’s new vice chairman.

Bhansali said in a statement that he hopes “to sustain India’s global leadership, capitalize on domestic market potential, and advocate for favorable policies while continuing to support our artisans.

“To boost exports from the sector and support India’s economic growth, GJEPC has identified 17 key clusters based on their size, potential, and strategic location,” he continued. “By nurturing these clusters, we aim to develop them into thriving export hubs.”
