The council of the Gemmological Association of Great Britain (Gem-A) has appointed Nick Jones interim CEO.
He is the group’s first chief executive since James Riley left the group in July.
Jones’ duties will include managing the group and advising the council on its future structure. He previously headed another United Kingdom nonprofit, the Society of Operations Engineers.
Riley’s departure sparked a cantankerous social media campaign for his reinstatement. In subsequent council elections, current members held their seats, but new members joined the board.
