The Gem Certification & Assurance Lab has begun offering digital certificates for its 5 Stars and Source Veritas reports.
The digital certificates, known as GemFacts, come in the form of a min-CD which reproduces the full graphics of a GCAL certificate, GCAL officials said in a statement.
The CD also has an educational feature for consumers. By moving the mouse cursor over any one of 19 keyword terms on the certificate, such as “clarity” and “color,” the computer provides a pop-up window, making it an effective sales tool for the retail jeweler, according to company officials. GCAL says the same functionality will soon be available on its Web site.
GemFacts digital certificates are available along with traditional GCAL certificates.
