Gardner to address GIA members in the Virgin Islands

Cecilia Gardner, president & CEO, and general counsel of the Jewelers Vigilance Committee and, will deliver the keynote address at the Caribbean Islands Alumni Chapter, Gemological Institute of America and the St. Thomas-St. John Chamber of Commerce special presentation. She will present two topics: “Five Easy Ways to get Sued” and “Anti-Money Laundering Compliance.”

The event will be held Oct. 20. at Pilgrim’s Terrace, Lytton’s Fancy #8 GH, Mafoli Hill, Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas, Virgin Islands. Reservations are required, and seating is limited. Anyone interested in attending can contact 340.776.0100 by Oct. 14.

The presentation will benefit the Caribbean Islands Alumni Chapter, GIA-Education Foundation, Inc. that offers support of education programs for Caribbean Island jewelers and to those who want to enter the field, said Ivanne Farr, president, board of officers, Caribbean Islands Alumni Chapter, GIA.

“We are delighted that Cecilia will be enhancing our education program and look forward to continuing to offer support, guidance and training to the Caribbean Islands jewelry industry,” Farr said.

“The Caribbean is home to a vibrant retail jewelry community,” said Gardner, aho also is general counsel of the World Diamond Council. “JVC’s education programs, services and products provide important resources to help retailer jewelers understand how to comply with laws pertaining to the description and sale of fine jewelry.”
