From Ancient Egypt to Hollywood: A History of Our Love Affair With Emeralds

I’ve had a fondness for emeralds ever since I was the Cowardly Lion in a middle school production of The Wizard of Oz.

So I was pleased that the Emerald City from the movie was featured in this Christie’s infographic on why emeralds rock.

I also appreciated all the nerdy history stuff about the highly desired colored stone—e.g., it was sold in Babylonian markets in 4,000 B.C.!
