Friedman’s is moving to Texas

After more than 85 years in Savannah, Ga., Friedman’s Inc. is moving its corporate headquarters to Addison, Texas, the Dallas Business Journal reports.

The company has signed a 10-year lease for 85,000 sq.ft. at Addison II, a two-story, 180,000-square-foot building, the newspaper reports. About 100 employees will relocate to the Dallas suburb in June and the company plans to hire another 200 people in the immediate future.

Friedman’s, the nation’s third-largest specialty jewelry retailer, emerged from Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection at the end of 2005.

The publication quoted Dallas real estate brokers and brothers Al Leon and Art Leon, along with Al’s son Trip Leon, who represented Friedman’s in the deal.
