Friday 5: 2012 Jewelers’ Choice Award–Winning Beauties

The excitement stemming from the announcement of the Jewelers’ Choice Award winners is palpable, and yet, I find myself still trying to wrap my head around how our voters were able to choose among so many beautiful pieces. We’re now left with our winning jewels, each just as stunning as the next, and I have given myself the task of choosing my five favorites—and what an arduous task it is! Below, check out my roundup of the fab five pieces that get my vote as the best of the best—and please, feel free to share your favorites, too!

Le Vian’s Blue Floral Knockout

Le Vian's tanzanite ring

I love this ring from Le Vian for one big reason: color, color, color. The deeply-hued tanzanite is breathtaking and is only made brighter by the surrounding blue zircon and tanzanite accents. Plus, its sheer size makes for a seriously cool statement piece. Winner of the Jewelers’ Choice Award for Best Tanzanite Jewelry over $10,000.

Parade Designs’ Twisted Fantasy

Parade Designs Gothic Band

This gothic-inspired ring from Parade Designs’ Reverie Noir Collection draws me in due to its dark yet whimsical nature, just like a Tim Burton film. The fancy color diamonds pop against the 18k black gold design. Winner of the Jewelers’ Choice Award for Colored Diamond Jewelry, $2,501–$10,000.

Rahaminov’s Bubbly Pendant

Rahaminov's Bubble Pendant

My affection for bubbles is no secret by now, so Rahaminov’s cheerful O Collection pendant was an easy choice. The diamond design is made even more desirable by its rose-gold setting. Winner of the Jewelers’ Choice Award for Best Necklace Design, $2,501–$10,000.

Yael’s Hot Molten Lava

Yael's Lava Ring

The centerpiece of Yael’s diamond-encrusted Lava ring is a 6.47 ct. fire opal, with such hot color it seems otherworldly. The delicate diamond detail surrounding the bright stone is what really makes this piece stand out in a crowd. Winner of the Jewelers’ Choice Award for Colored Stone Jewelry, $2,501–$10,000.

Belle Étoile’s Lovely Lace

Belle Etoile's Lace Bangle

The black and white bangle from Belle Étoile is crafted from sterling silver and dotted with black cubic zirconia. I admire the hand-painted enamel lace design that seems ladylike with a slight edge. Winner of the Jewelers’ Choice Award for Best Bracelet Design under $2,500 AND Best Price Point $501–$1,000.
