Fred Segal Debuts Co-Branded Jewelry With Officina Bernardi

Retailer Fred Segal has teamed up with boutique contemporary Venetian jewelry maker Officina Bernardi for a capsule collection that updates classic-feeling Italian design with a playful nod to the legendary Los Angeles retailer.

The three-piece collection—composed of a ring and two bracelets—will debut March 15 online and at Fred Segal’s Sunset Boulevard flagship in L.A. (the company also operates a store at the Los Angeles International Airport and franchises its name and concept to a handful of stores in Japan).

The trio of styles were made using Officina Bernardi’s signature moon-cut technique, which creates highly reflective multifaceted silver beads.

The coiling Molla bracelet and ring (molla is Italian for spring) and the silver-beaded Moon bracelet are fabricated from rhodium-plated silver—and all three pieces boast a cute little red, blue, and white ceramic motif, in homage to Fred Segal’s signature colors.

The collection will retail from $120 to $270.

Carlo and Francesco Bernardi launched Officina Bernardi in 2007. The firm’s jewelry—which is made from start to finish in its Venetian factory—is currently sold in more than 800 U.S. boutiques, independent jewelry stores, and department stores.

The symbol of the Officina Bernardi brand is a small gold and silver bead—the Moon bead—which is representative of the moon and “manufactured with exclusive technologies and high-precision methods,” according to the brand.

Fred Segal, which debuted in 1961 as a jeans store and has been one of L.A.’s defining stores for decades, has a long history of collaborations with fashion, jewelry, and accessories brands.

The retailer is known for fashion and beauty, but it also stocks its own fine jewelry collection, which speaks to Angelenos’ longstanding love of “daily gold.” Stacking bands, diamond geometric stud earrings, and simple celestial-themed pieces abound.
