The solar system, the sky, all beings celestial—these are things that are important at all times of year, influencing our Earth and the way we see it from season to season.
But it feels as if our interest on the matter is piqued during the summer. Maybe it’s because the balmy temperatures make it warm enough to stay out late and stargaze. The stars provide the backdrop to our camping trips and moonlit strolls. It’s a good time to sit with your kids and talk about the worlds beyond ours, spurring an interest in the planets, astronomy, or maybe even astrology. It’s unlikely we’d do this in the winter, at least where many of us live.
So, although a love for all things sky is not seasonal, it seems to blossom in the summer. I love the image of lying under the stars, using their positioning to tell stories and trying to decipher images within them. Which is why it’s such a compelling time to dig into Foundrae’s exceptionally cool orb collection, particularly if you’re feeling a pull toward astrology.
Fashioned for the four classic elements of astrology—earth, air, water, and fire—Foundrae’s spherical wonders are made using matching gemstones: malachite, lapis, onyx, and red carnelian, respectively.
Choose from orbs large or small in charm/pendant form, or go for a full look in a bracelet or, my personal favorite, an anklet. There are also two crescent moon options—I’m eyeing the onyx version (above) as the perfect piece for Halloween (which, if you can believe it, I’m starting to daydream about already).
Since they’re rooted in astrology, the pieces have a spiritual vibe, which aligns beautifully with the talismanic pieces we’ve been clinging to as of late. Choose which element to sport based on your astrological sign (air for me), or simply pick your favorite color (I’m still coveting the onyx), or mix and match because they’re all gorgeous.
