Fortunoff contributes $100,000 to the GIA Endowment Fund

Fortunoff Fine Jewelry, a long-time benefactor of the Gemological Institute of America, has contributed $100,000 to GIA’s permanent Endowment Fund to support the Institute’s education and research efforts. In recognition of the gift, company representatives, Esther Fortunoff Greene and Ruth Fortunoff Cooper will be inducted into GIA’s esteemed League of Honor during the annual dinner in New York City Oct. 20.

This year will mark the third induction of Fortunoff Fine Jewelry into GIA’s League of Honor. This latest contribution brings their total donations to more than $300,000 over the last 12 years. GIA dedicated a classroom to the company at the Institute’s New York campus for their previous contributions. Helene Fortunoff, company president and a member of GIA’s Board of Governors, was inducted in GIA’s League of Honor in 1997 and 1999.

The League of Honor is a distinction reserved for industry leaders and organizations who have contributed $100,000 or more to support GIA’s mission as a nonprofit public service organization. More than 80 individuals from numerous companies in the gem and jewelry industry have been recognized at the annual event since 1995.
