Former MTV Star Kristin Cavallari Launches Jewelry Line

Kristin Cavallari, known for her roles in MTV’s Laguna Beach and The Hills, has launched a jewelry line in collaboration with Pascal Mouawad and Glamboutique.

The collection, inspired by Cavallari’s California upbringing, is currently available at select Kitson locations and at glamboutique.com.

“With her growing recognition in the fashion industry, as well as her connection to girls worldwide, Kristin Cavallari has built an audience who respect her opinion and always look to see what she is doing next,” Mouawad said in a statement.

Cavallari, who recently revealed that fiancé Jay Cutler (quarterback for the Chicago Bears) sent her an engagement ring in the mail, took time out of her schedule to talk to us about jewelry and fashion.

JCK:  What inspired you to create a jewelry line?

Kristin Cavallari: I had such a great time doing my shoe line that I wanted to expand and jewelry is another passion of mine. I love designing accessories.

JCK: Can you describe your creative process and influences? Is there a particular reason you chose to work with gold pieces?

KC: I chose gold because it’s what I wear most. My line truly represents my style. I love layering, stackable pieces. My line looks great mixed in with pieces you already have in your own personal collection. I just wanted to create a line that I love and want to wear. I love simplicity for an effortless, chic look.

JCK: During your time on Laguna Beach and The Hills, you represented the quintessential California girl. Has your style changed since becoming a mom and moving to Chicago?

KC: The only thing that’s changed about my style is that I wear more flats. Being in Chicago in the winter, I layer a lot and wear a ton of boots.

JCK: Is it a challenge to juggle your business ventures with new motherhood? What advice can you give to other working moms and those who want to appear stylish even with a hectic schedule?

KC: It was difficult at first because I was breast feeding Cam and would be at a photo shoot having to stop every two hours to feed him, but now it’s great because Jay isn’t working so he can watch him when I need to be gone for a few days for work. Being on the design side is great though because I can do most of the work from anywhere and make my own hours.

Advice to new moms who want to look great with a hectic schedule is to find a few staple pieces that you can mix and match with a ton if things so that it’s easy. A blazer is a great piece, an amazing pair of jeans, some great shoes, and jewelry.

JCK: What have your learned about the fashion/jewelry business from working with Pascal Mouawad?

KC: I’ve learned that there is so much out there so whatever you can do to make your jewelry unique and special, the better.
