FIT to Honor Joan Hornig

The Fashion Institute of Technology will honor jewelry designer and philanthropist Joan Hornig at its annual gala on June 9.

Dr. Jay H. Baker, FIT board chair, and Linda Fargo, senior vice president of fashion office and store presentation at Bergdorf Goodman, will also be honored.

Joan Hornig debuted her jewelry line in 2003 and donates “100 percent of her profits 100 percent of the time” to charity. Her designs have been worn by Elizabeth Olsen, Emma Stone, Jessica Alba, and Lupita Nyong’o, among others.

Hornig’s other collections include the Signature Collection (18k gold with precious and semiprecious stones), the Silver Lining collection, the Boldly Brass Joan line, the Horn (Increase Giving), the Tools for Giving collection, and most recently, Giving Rocks, her fashion jewelry collection that debuted on HSN.

She is a member of FIT’s board of trustees and will wear a gown to the gala designed by FIT alumna Cristina Ottaviano.
