Filene’s Basement Reopening Online

Filene’s Basement, the discount store that closed in 2011 after its parent company, Syms Corp., filed for Chapter 11, will reopen as FilenesBasement.com, an e-commerce site.

The retailer is now owned by Trinity Place Holdings, a New York City– based real estate firm that purchased the brand’s copyright in 2012.

The Washington Post reports that the online store will have more than 1 million SKUs, and the Filene’s Basement Twitter account boasts that the store will have “a curated selection of discount branded apparel, accessories, and home goods.” Personalized homepages and product selections will be offered based on a user survey.

A specific date for the website to go live has not been released, but the Post reports that it will be “sometime next week.”

A call to Trinity Place Holdings about the site’s jewelry offerings went unreturned by press time; this article will be updated when further information is available.
