A rare Patek Philippe that once belonged to guitarist Eric Clapton fetched $3.6 million at a Christie’s Geneva watch auction, a world record for the reference.
The exceptionally rare platinum perpetual calendar chronograph wristwatch with moon phases, ref. 2499/100, was manufactured by Patek Philippe in 1987. The name of the buyer was undisclosed.
The overall sale took in $28.5 million, selling 96 percent by lot and 97 percent by value.
