The solitaire. Three-stone. The halo. Vintage revival. When pressed to choose just one, every decade can be defined by a specific style—one that stands out as the engagement ring to rule them all.
But will we look back on the year 2026 and recall such an obvious trend? Bold and hefty yellow gold feels definitive of our current era, but right now, individuality feels more in-demand than ever, as reflected in this assortment of bespoke and made-to-order engagement rings.
Each ring is highly individual, but that doesn’t mean engagement ring customers aren’t influenced by what’s current. One quick look through the lineup below and you’ll find many of-the-moment styles: chunky yellow gold, off-color and antique diamonds, elongated shapes. Still, shoppers seeking custom designs aren’t wanting “off the rack”—cutting edge or not, they want a say in each element that composes the ring they might plan to wear for life.
“[I’m] definitely seeing a huge focus on heirloom resets and chunkier, bold, nontraditional engagement rings,” says Melanie Bardet, founder and designer of Matilda Bardet. The custom engagement ring designed by Bardet (pictured below), was a result of a client expressing interest in a cigar band. For other designers, customers come to them specifically for their artistic point of view. “In my case they usually come for a specific style,” says designer Irena Chmura, whose design is pictured below. “Organic, free-flowing, with asymmetric lines and with defined clustered elements. Greens, teals, peachy-pink, and with diamonds—both natural and lab-grown—in mixed colors.”
The anti-trend or the one that will define these modern ’20s? Ask us in 2030. Until then, these are the newest bespoke engagement rings that clients are demanding.
