The Pantone Institute named Emerald the 2013 Color of the Year, and it is appearing in all its splendor in all manner of designs. The most splendid examples of the hue, of course, are the gemstones for which the shade of green is named.
Emeralds are featured in a fashion spread in the March 2013 issue of Elle styling the models with a circa 1960s French influence. In the photo above, the model wears enormous diamond and emerald earrings from Helen Yarmak with a beaded blouse and pants ensemble from Giorgio Armani. She also wears a Patricia Underwood tulle hat, Miu Miu leather gloves, Falke fishnet tights, and Louis Vuitton sequined pumps, and she carries a metal clutch from Victoria Beckham.
In this second photo from the March issue of Elle, an emerald and diamond necklace from Jacob & Co. accents a knit top and printed faille skirt from Carolina Herrera. The model also wears a silk headband from Eugenia Kim, lambskin gloves from Causse Gantier, Emilio Cavallini tights and Marc Jacobs slingbacks, and she carries a Louis Vuitton sequined bag.
A photo in the June 2013 issue of InStyle features actress Julianne Moore wearing a Bulgari necklace of Colombian emeralds, noting: “According to Christie’s, Bulgari dropped more than $12 million to buy back these almost-85-carat Colombian-emerald pieces that Richard Burton had given to Elizabeth Taylor back in the ’60s. Bonus: You can detach the pendant to wear as a brooch!”

“How do you do emerald?” asks the April 2013 issue of InStyle magazine. Singer Beyoncé is pictured in Lorraine Schwartz emerald earrings at the presidential inauguration.
A current ad for Gemfields features actress Mila Kunis wearing a Zambian emerald necklace.
The 29-year-old Kunis is “still settling into her role as spokesperson for the world’s largest supplier of colored stones,” according to the May 2013 issue of C California Style magazine. The company supplies gemstones to 37 jewelry brands, including The Gem Palace, whose Zambian emerald and diamond ring is spotlighted.
