Eco-Chic Baubles to Celebrate Earth Day

What better way to celebrate the health of the planet than with sustainable, eco-friendly jewelry this Earth Day, Saturday, April 22? Brilliant Earth is a San Francisco jeweler offering ethically sourced engagement rings, wedding rings, diamonds, and gemstones guaranteed to be conflict-free, while also providing education to foster change in the jewelry industry and committing a portion of profits to underdeveloped countries ravaged by the trade. New York–based The Brave Collection is launching a banana leaf pendant inspired by Cambodia, where the piece is handmade by local artists, specifically for this year’s Earth Day. The brand, which routinely donates 10 percent of profits to combat human trafficking, will also be donating funds to the Rainforest Alliance. And what better way to guarantee conflict-free status than to choose lab-grown diamonds? Miadonna uses lab-grown diamonds and recycled diamonds and metals to craft engagement rings, wedding rings, earrings, and pendants. About 5 percent of the Portland, Ore.–based company’s profits go to diamond mining communities with the goal of eradicating poverty and promoting farming.
