The new Ecksand boutique in Toronto pays homage to the jewelry brand’s French-Canadian heritage and aligns with the Yorkville neighborhood’s history of culture and creativity, according to Ecksand creative director Erica Bianchini.
“At Ecksand, we’ve always believed that physical spaces matter—not just as retail environments, but as an extension of the brand’s soul,” says Bianchini, also a cofounder of the Montreal-based company. “As Canada’s largest metropolitan hub, Toronto holds a unique position in our country. Yorkville stood out from the start.”
Ecksand opened earlier this year at 162 Cumberland St. in Yorkville, marking the 16-year-old brand’s first expansion outside Montreal. Located within Toronto’s downtown area, Yorkville is known for designer shopping, art galleries, cobblestone streets, and Victorian-era houses.
Bianchini describes it as a design-forward neighborhood steeped in Canada’s values and craftsmanship. She says Yorkville’s array of art, shopping, and culinary venues makes it feel like a village within the city, mirroring the kind of world Ecksand seeks to serve as a fine jewelry brand.

“We’re global in outlook, intentional in values, and proudly rooted in Canada,” says Bianchini. “This expansion is part of a larger vision. With strong foundations in Montreal and now Toronto, we’re laying the groundwork to bring Ecksand’s philosophy of sustainable Canadian craftsmanship and spirited, enduring design to an international audience.”
From its look to its overall vibe, Ecksand’s Toronto boutique was designed to feel different from a traditional jewelry store, Bianchini says. Natural elements such as Canadian wood and raw stone as well as neutral color let the jewelry shine.
“Minimalism, for us, isn’t aesthetic restraint. It’s how we ensure nothing distracts from the craftsmanship, and it reflects our values,” she says. “The space is designed to create clarity and intention, to spotlight each jewel and its story without excess. Importantly, it also reflects how we think about our jewels.
“We’re proof that a thoughtfully designed space can deliver a full luxury experience without compromising the integrity of our consciously priced model. Every design choice is deliberate, and every square foot serves a purpose,” she adds.

“It’s immersive. It’s curated. Clients aren’t just shopping. They’re connecting with the story behind the jewels, the sourcing of the materials, and the integrity of the design,” Bianchini says.
The boutique also highlights Ecksand’s significant achievement of receiving the Canadian National Mark—a government-regulated designation for products that are made entirely in Canada under strict standards of quality and traceability.
“What’s been especially moving is how many visitors express how proud they are to discover a Canadian hallmark jeweler. There’s a genuine sense of appreciation that something of this caliber is not only Canadian-made but deeply rooted in Canadian values,” Bianchini says.
