eBay Debuts Traveling Consignment Shop Featuring Jenna Lyons’ Handbags

Share

Resale platform eBay is putting its luxury consignment service—which it launched in September—on wheels with a branded Luxe Line bus that will visit Los Angeles on Dec. 13 and 14 before traveling to Las Vegas on Dec. 16.

The Luxe Line will be open to the public—a physical space where consumers can have luxury items appraised, photographed, and consigned with the support of on-site selling experts. They also can shop the personal collections of top eBay luxury sellers, including fashion designer Jenna Lyons, who is consigning handbags from her own wardrobe.

Shoppers can expect to find jewelry and watches on the Luxe Line, such as classic Cartier Love and Trinity bracelets, Elsa Peretti for Tiffany & Co. designs, Rolex Datejusts, and Omega Seamasters.

Through consignment initiatives like the Luxe Line, eBay aims to “remove the typical barriers to selling pre-owned items,” said Tirath Kamdar, global GM of luxury at eBay, in a statement. “The Luxe Line gives sellers and shoppers a way to test out our new service in real life with the same trusted experts that eBay works with for the online experience.”

According to McKinsey & Company, “There is somewhere between half a trillion and a trillion dollars’ worth of luxury goods in people’s closets, and probably half of it is unworn.”

Items that Lyons is offering on consignment include a Celine red leather luggage handbag, a Louis Vuitton black epi leather keep-all, and a Miu Miu two-way Boston bag. 100% of proceeds from Lyons’ sales will benefit Doctors Without Borders, eBay said.
