comScore reported Wednesday that approximately $27 billion was spent online from November 1st through Christmas Eve, an increase of five percent over the same period a year ago.
According to comScore chairman Gian Fulgoni, jewelry and watche sales turned in strong performances after a weak 2008 season.
For the period from Black Friday through Christmas Eve, and after adjusting for the additional shopping day in 2009, e-commerce sales grew by approximately 3.5 percent.
