The Diamond Trading Company (DTC) has confirmed its list of sightholders, selected from among the world’s leading diamantaires.

There are 20% fewer sightholders than previously, “which is not surprising given DTC’s reducing share of the rough diamond market,” the DTC said in a statement. “These sightholders share our vision of a dynamic and growing market for diamond jewelry.”

The DTC said it believes that its enterprising and pro-competitive approach to client selection, embodied in Supplier of Choice, represents a great opportunity for the many successful business models in the diamond industry. “The new list reflects this in that it includes a wide range of differing business models, including both large and small players, manufacturing and dealing orientated businesses, companies that use a full range of diamonds and those that are highly focused on specific goods.”

The new list includes 10 companies that are either completely new to the sightholder list or are returning to it after a break of some years, and these are spread across the centers.

The DTC added that a more detailed sightholder directory, “which will list all the names and their associated firms, their areas of expertise and specialization,” will be available later this year.

De Beers, via the DTC, will continue to provide the diamdel companies worldwide with rough for sale direct to the market.
