DTC Botswana Appoints New Managing Director

Share

Serty Leburu, a seasoned Botswana executive, became DTC Botswana’s new managing director on Feb. 2.

She is the first woman to head the company, which sells diamonds from De Beers’ Botswana mines and is jointly owned by De Beers and the government of Botswana.

Previously, Leburu served as executive director of Botswana Accountancy College for 10 years. Before that, she was deputy CEO at Botswana Housing Corporation and deputy CEO of Standard Chartered Bank Botswana.

Her résumé includes a stint at Debswana, the joint venture that handles De Beers’ mining operations in Botswana, where she was its first female finance manager.

Leburu takes over from Sedireng Serumola, who was DTC Botswana’s managing director for six years. Serumola left in December to become CEO of Stone Temple Holdings, a business advisory.
